I got tagged!! :)
I was so graciously tagged by Brittney at King Alfred Academy. Here's what I'm supposed to do.
Book Meme Rules:
Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
Open the book to page 123
Find the fifth sentence.
Post the next three sentences.
Tag five people.
Ok, so here's my nearest book: The Golden Compass
page 123 (it's already in quotes... I did NOT add them)
"Then there was you. If things had fallen out different, Lyra, you might have been brought up a gyptian, because the nurse begged the court to let her have you; but we gyptians got little standing in the law. The court decided you was to be placed in a priory, and so you were, with the Sisters of Obedience at Watlington. You won't remember."
I know that was 4 sentences, but it's the whole paragraph.
So now I have to tag 5 other people.... hmmm... you better run! :)

KONOS, Week 2
I hate to say it, but our second week did not go as well as the first. I don't really feel like we did anything. This week our focus was on Kings and Queens. I specified it a
little more by staying in England. My Memaw (mom's mom) came from England when she was 22 (1954), and I want my kids to have pride in their heritage.
Monday: We read King/Queen related Nursery Rhymes, one in particular was Sing a Song of Six Pence about Henry VIII. We read a kids biography on Queen Elizabeth II and talked about the basic geography of England.
Tuesday: Read lots of poems by Shakespeare, actually they were excerpts from his plays. We read a book about England that had a basic History included. They watched the Backyardagins movie, "Tale of the Mighty Knights." It was cute, but I can't stand the Backyardagins. :)
Wednesday: I read a page about general characteristics of the Medieval period. B and I read a biography on Queen Elizabeth I. Then she copied a poem that the Queen wrote while she was imprisoned by her sister.
Thursday: We read about King Richard I, Richard the Lionhearted, from SOTW v2.
Friday: We read about Robin Hood from SOTW v2 and colored a picture of him.

Timeline is up!!
I'm so excited to finally have this finished. The kids clapped when I hung it up.

The bottom poster (BC) has "Creation" at the beginning, and 2400 at the first turn. I figured this way we'd have a "dateless" line. The increments are 400 years.
The top poster (AD) is divided into 300 year increments. I did stop at 2020 so the top line is only 220 years.
I used Address Labels for the dates and info. I'm really excited and I can't wait to start filling it up!! :)
