Bean Bag Toss

We had so much fun! Well, the kids did. :) They got to make a ball toss game. They got to keep the safety goggles and Lowe's apron. After they were done they also got a certificate and a patch... sort of like what they'd get it boy/girl scouts.

Summer Swap ~ Montana

*C* got his package yesterday from "Little Bear." Poor guy had to wait all day to open it. I was away from home breaking beans and canning them, so he had to sit and look at the box for about 5 hours. :)

These were also included for the other 3 kids.

Super Summer Swap

I signed the 3 older kids up for the Super Summer Swap. It's too late to sign up but if you click on the image you can read more about it.

They will be paired with a child their age in another state. They will send each other a package that will include at least 3 things, some examples include:

1.A postcard or brochure from where you live,

2. a lapbook or scrapbook or something handmade,
3. a photograph or drawing of your child,
4. a special gift that will allow your child's new friend to experience a hobby or interest that your child has or enjoys.
You do not have to spend any money, but please DO NOT spend more than $15.00 on the items that will be exchanged.
Depending on where our new friends are from we may send them some red dirt. :)

All of the packages should be mailed by August 3rd and then I have to post about it. So watch for it!

New Coats, euge!

Every single one of my children needed a new coat this year. My aunt's friend was very generous! She bought all of the coats and my aunt shipped them to us. THANK YOU!!
They're a little bummed that it's not cold enough yet, but it will be soon.

*L* was standing there saying, "Eeeesh." Or as we like to say, "Cheese." :)

Baptism at the River

I'm so proud of my babies!! *B* & *C* were baptized today!

The sermon was about baptism, since we were to have one following the service.

I can't remember exactly what his words were, but baptism was around long before Christianity. I never really thought about it before. Our Pastor said that baptism was used in all kinds of "groups" as a way to identify it's followers. Using present day as an example: If you wanted to be affiliated with a particular political party then you had to be baptized by them... to publicly show your allegiance.

Now I understand the conversation between John and Jesus much better!! John was at the Jordan River preaching and baptizing people. They then became John's followers. Well, when Jesus came down...

(Mt 3:14) ... John tried to stop Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?"

John couldn't understand. He should have been baptized by Jesus. He wanted to be a part of Jesus' group, not the other way around! I get it now!

Missing Tooth

*C* saw that his friend had lost a tooth, so he decided that it was time for his to come out.

Thursday, July 3

the TRUE meaning of July 4th

Imagine the most excited kid voice you can. (Going to Disney World or something like that.)

*C* says, "*T* tomorrow is Independence Day! The day we celebrate not being from England!"

I busted out laughing! The funniest part about not being FROM England is that my Memaw (mom's mom) was born and raised in England.

I'm still laughing! :)

Meeting Rick Strickland...

A couple at church own a restaurant and every Friday night they have live Gospel music. Tonight the guest was Rick Strickland. He is an awesome singer and wonderful person.

Here he was singing Jesus Loves the Little Children & Jesus Loves Me. My kids got in on the action! :)

*C* gets glasses!!

We thought we'd dodged the "glasses bullet" with *C*. At least he was 6 before he needed them. {sigh}

He's got a slight astigmatism in his left eye and he's just a tad farsighted. His right eye is perfect. She said that more than likely he'll grow out of it. That's good news.

*B* got glasses when she was 2 1/2. She inherited a lazy eye and horrible vision from her mama.

Luckily, none of the boys have shown "laziness." (I wish that were true for other parts of their bodies as well :)
