Bean Bag Toss

We had so much fun! Well, the kids did. :) They got to make a ball toss game. They got to keep the safety goggles and Lowe's apron. After they were done they also got a certificate and a patch... sort of like what they'd get it boy/girl scouts.

Super Summer Swap

I signed the 3 older kids up for the Super Summer Swap. It's too late to sign up but if you click on the image you can read more about it.

They will be paired with a child their age in another state. They will send each other a package that will include at least 3 things, some examples include:

1.A postcard or brochure from where you live,

2. a lapbook or scrapbook or something handmade,
3. a photograph or drawing of your child,
4. a special gift that will allow your child's new friend to experience a hobby or interest that your child has or enjoys.
You do not have to spend any money, but please DO NOT spend more than $15.00 on the items that will be exchanged.
Depending on where our new friends are from we may send them some red dirt. :)

All of the packages should be mailed by August 3rd and then I have to post about it. So watch for it!

Graduation Ceremony

Once a year our church takes the time to congratulate the graduates. Each of them receives a Bible from the church.

This year *T* graduated Kindergarten.

And Mike got his GED.

New Coats, euge!

Every single one of my children needed a new coat this year. My aunt's friend was very generous! She bought all of the coats and my aunt shipped them to us. THANK YOU!!
They're a little bummed that it's not cold enough yet, but it will be soon.

*L* was standing there saying, "Eeeesh." Or as we like to say, "Cheese." :)

K Review ~ /s/, /m/, /l/

I saw these ABC Notebooks at Homeschool Share, and decided they'd be nice for reinforcement. We didn't do MFW K this week, we just did the notebook.

Sunday, July 6

/m/, /m/, moon

I cant' get over how much he *loves* Kindergarten. He learned the sound of the letter "m" and made this week's Moon Badge. We also redid the Sun Badge since I got some of the interfacing.

Sunday, June 29

/s/, /s/, sun

This was my buddy's first week of Kindergarten. ("Officially" it will start August 4.)

We've tried so many different phonics "programs" up to this point, I thought all hope was gone. He's just too much of a Wiggly Willy. (Here is an excellent site explaining Learning Styles.)

Then, I decided to check into MFW Kindergarten. It is awesome! I really can't think of a better word. I wish that I could go back in time and use it for the older two.

*T* is so excited that today (Sunday) he got upset when I said we weren't "doing Kindergarten."

On Day 6, we read Moonbear's Shadow, by Frank Asch.

In the Hospital

*T* was in the hospital on June 8 & 9. He had ingested something that contained tricyclics, commonly found in anti-anxiety medication or anti-depressants. It ended up being a muscle relaxer and, by the GRACE OF GOD, he's fine. They kept him overnight hooked up to heart and breathing monitors. Now all of our medication is under lock and key!

We don't have a video game machine at home... so he played the entire time he was awake!!

Wordless Wednesday 4/23/08

This boy can fall asleep anywhere! This was during the little movie at the Andrew Johnson Museum.
