Creation to Greeks ~ week 6

After 51 days our bread has produced NO MOLD... so I threw it away.

This week we started learning The 10 Commandments:

Exodus 20: The Ten Commanments
I am the Lord your God... you shall have no other gods before me.

BIBLE/HISTORY: We read and discussed Job. We also discussed Abraham, Lot and their journeys. We were supposed to make our own map, but I printed one out and had the kids trace the path. *C* and *B* also read Mark chapters 1-4 on their own.

SCIENCE: We started Christian Kids Explore Biology. We only finished the first part of lesson 1, but I really like it and the kids are excited about Biology! Who'd a thunk it?

HYMN STUDY: Holy, Holy, Holy focus on verse 2. We now have the first two verses memorized.

Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shall be.

VOCABULARY: The original plan was to do 2 Greek Roots a week until we're caught up. Now I've decided that we'll just do one per week and not worry about being "behind." This week they did photos.

ART HISTORY/STUDY: We read Chapter 1, part 2: What's wrong with this picture? from Hillyer's A Child's History of Art.

READ ALOUD: Boy of the Pyramids chapters 1-3. My local library had a copy and the kids are really enjoying the book. They beg and beg me to read more!

LATIN: LNST 1 pages 97-104... FINISHED!

LOGIC: 2 episodes of Crashbox each day.

MATH:

*T* did lessons 14-16 in R&S 1.

*C* did workbook exercises 21-23 and corresponding text pages.

*B* finished Review 2, exercises 36-39 and corresponding text pages.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

*T* did half of part 2, lesson 2 of LLATL Blue. He's still having trouble blending, but it will all come together sooner or later.

*C* did Lesson 1 of Spectrum Spelling 3.

*B* completed lesson 2 of LLATL Orange, and lesson 2: days 1-4 of Writing Strands 3.

  1. It always amazes me how much we actually get done. Most of our lessons were half finished this week, but when I type it out and read it over I don't feel so bad.

  2. Audrey, you had a great week! I'm so impressed, I'm sure I couldn't have accomplished that much with a newborn. ;)

Thanks for the map link. I bookmarked it-we'll be there in two weeks.

  3. Audrey: That was a wonderful, wonderful week. I am in awe of you, my friend. :)
Hope little Z is doing great-I'm sure he is.

Isn't it funny that if you want something to mold it won't and if you don't want it to-it will. Kind of strange isn't it.

The biology sounds wonderful. I've heard very good things about that curriculum.

  4. Awesome week! Loving that you finished LNST! Still marveling over the bread not molding... we have stuff mold so fast on our counter it can make your head spin at times!

God bless you this next week as well! It's probably rough going with a toddler and a baby but you did awesome. :) I'm not so sure I'd do so well!

  5. Audrey, I'm with Abby. I definitely couldn't have accomplished that much with a newborn. You rock! Thanks for the map too! :-)

Oh, Spelling Wisdom has worked for many people but writing the literature pieces were not teaching my gang the everyday "common" words they needed to know and learn. I could've just added this as an extra assignment but that would've been too time consuming for my schedule so we had to choose one over the other.
